Saint John Paul II Feast Day


Come celebrate the Solemnity of Saint John Paul II at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine! On the evening of Thursday, October 22nd from 6:30 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. the Shrine will have a special candlelight procession with a dramatic re-reading of Saint John Paul II’s “Be Not Afraid” homily, a candlelight Mass, and an after-Mass celebration featuring Polish foods and Saint John Paul II’s favorite dessert – Kremówka.

6:30 P.M. Dramatic re-reading of Saint John Paul II’s “Be Not Afraid” Homily

6:45 – 7:00 P.M. Evening Candlelight Procession on the Shrine Grounds

7:15 – 8:30 P.M. Solemn Candlelight Mass in our new Redemptor Hominis Church followed by an opportunity to venerate a first-class blood relic of Saint John Paul II in our new Reliquary Chapel.

8:45 – 10:00 P.M. After Mass Celebration with Polish foods and Saint John Paul II’s favorite Polish dessert – Kremówka.
