Go deeper into this year’s Jubilee of Hope through the teachings of Saint John Paul II during the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000
During the summer months, the Saint John Paul II National Shrine will present to its pilgrims a new temporary display on the Jubilee. The exhibit brings to the faithful Saint John Paul II’s thoughts and remembers the celebration of the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 as they continue to live this year’s Jubilee of Hope, opened by Pope Francis and continued by Pope Leo XIV.
The exhibit features panels with catechetical explanations on the tradition and theology of the Jubilee, as well as objects and memorabilia from the Shrine’s collection from the celebrations of the Jubilee of the Year 2000. In an innovative approach, pilgrims proceed through the Shrine’s main exhibit – A Gift of Love, The Life of Saint John Paul II-, where panels will guide them through the key moments of Saint John Paul II’s pontificate that are related to the Jubilee of the Year 2000. The exhibit also features a life-size replica of the Holy Doors, with a detailed explanation of the images found on them. Throughout the exhibit, pilgrims will find the words, teachings, and witness of Saint John Paul II that resonate with this year’s Jubilee of Hope.
Tours of the main exhibit, which includes the Jubilee temporary display, are available in English and Spanish. Please call (202) 635-5401 to schedule a tour for your group.
